Setup guide for Logo QuizVisuella

Leaderboards

Leaderboards show the top players across all your users — sorted by how many logos each player has guessed in total. Every time a player guesses a new logo, the app updates their score on the leaderboard automatically.

The app supports one leaderboard: the total number of logos guessed. Players tap the leaderboard button on the home screen and see the native Play Games (Android) or Game Center (iOS) leaderboard overlay pop up.

Before you start

Make sure you've already completed the Play Games page — connecting your app to Google Play Games Services (Android) and enabling Game Center (iOS). Leaderboards won't work without those.

Step 1 — Create the leaderboard on Google Play

  1. Open the Google Play Console and select your app.
  2. Go to Grow users → Play Games Services → Configuration → Leaderboards.
  3. Click Create leaderboard.
  4. Fill in the details:
    • Name: something like "Top Guessers".
    • Score format: Numeric.
    • Ordering: Larger is better (higher score = higher rank).
  5. Save.
  1. Once created, copy the leaderboard's ID — it starts with CgkI followed by more characters.

Step 2 — Create the leaderboard on App Store Connect

  1. Open App Store Connect and select your app.
  2. Go to Services → Game Center → Leaderboards.
  3. Click + to add a new leaderboard.
  4. Pick Classic Leaderboard.
  5. Fill in:
    • Leaderboard reference name / ID — a unique identifier like com.yourcompany.logoquiz.total_guessed. This is what you'll paste into the Setup Page.
    • Sort order: High to Low (higher score = higher rank).
    • Score format: Integer.
  6. Add localised display names (at minimum, English).
  7. Save.

Step 3 — Fill in the Setup Page

Open the Setup Page in your browser and go to the Leaderboards section. Turn on Enable Leaderboards at the top, then fill in:

  • Play Games leaderboard ID — the Android leaderboard ID from Step 1 (starts with CgkI).
  • Game Center leaderboard ID — the iOS leaderboard reference name / ID from Step 2 (e.g. com.yourcompany.logoquiz.total_guessed).

Click Save.

Step 4 — Run sync

As with every other setup step, run the sync command in your terminal:

bash
make sync

What happens once it's enabled

  • The Leaderboard button appears on the home screen.
  • Every time a player guesses a new logo, their total-guessed count is automatically sent to the leaderboard.
  • Tapping the button opens the native Play Games / Game Center overlay with global and friends rankings.

Testing

Leaderboards only work on signed test builds — you can't test them from a debug run on your machine. Follow the testing setup from the Play Games page:

  • Android — install the app from an Internal testing track via Play Console with a tester account.
  • iOS — install from TestFlight with the device signed into iCloud and Game Center.

The first score you submit may take a few minutes to appear on the board. Some sandbox environments show empty leaderboards until the app is available on the store — this is expected and stops happening once you go live.

Common problems

  • "Leaderboard button opens an empty overlay" — the leaderboard ID on the Setup Page doesn't match the one in the store console. Double-check both.
  • "Nothing gets submitted" — the player isn't signed into Play Games or Game Center on their device. The app can't submit scores anonymously.
  • "Only works on Android, not iOS (or vice versa)" — you only filled in one of the two IDs on the Setup Page. Both must be set for both platforms to work.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

  • Where do I get the latest version of the app?
On your CodeCanyon Downloads page, signed in with the account you bought the app with. Updates are free for life — see the Upgrade Code page for the safe way to move to a new version.
  • Do I need a Mac to publish on the App Store?
Yes. Building an iOS `.ipa` file requires Xcode, which only runs on macOS. Android builds work on any operating system.
  • Why don't in-app purchases work when I install the APK on my phone?
In-app purchases, Play Games and other Google Play services only unlock when the build is uploaded to a Play Console track (Internal testing is the fastest) and installed via the Play Store on a device signed in as a tester.
  • Do you provide the source code?
Yes — every CodeCanyon purchase includes the full Flutter source code plus all assets, so you can customise anything.
  • Can I use the same license for two different apps?
No. Envato's Regular License covers a single end product. If you want to publish a second app based on the same template, buy a second license on CodeCanyon.
  • How long does store review take?
Google Play: a few days for the very first submission, then a few hours to a day for updates. Apple App Store: usually 24–48 hours per submission.
